BIAG is a group for anyone interested in industrial archaeology, especially those who live or work in the English county of Berkshire and its surroundings.
The Group aims to encourage a wider appreciation of industrial archaeology and act as a stimulant to the study of the area’s industrial heritage.
We undertake recording, restoration and preservation projects.
BIAG holds monthly meetings from September to May, plus occasional Summer trips. Events Programme for 2011–2012
As part of the Caversham 100 Years On celebrations we’ll be hosting a look back at some Caversham industries of the past, including: H. E. Cars (Luxury touring cars), Elliotts (Shop fittings and joinery), Boat builders (Craft for work and pleasure), Gascoigne-Crowther (Napisan, Milton steriliser), Mills (Water mill and cork factory) and Thornycroft Engines (Marine engines).
Memories of the firms and activities above and any others will be welcome. Items such as photographs, advertisements, catalogues, cuttings and memorabilia about Caversham enterprises large and small are wanted for display.
This conference is organised annually. The next one will be held at St Bartholomew’s School, Newbury on 28 April 2012 hosted by BIAG.
